Africa Cinema Week to be held in Nairobi
The fifth edition of the Africa Cinema Week will take place in Nairobi from September 30-October 5.
Sponsored and hosted by the French Cultural and Cooperation Centre, the event seeks to promote audio-visual production in Africa. Among those to attend this year's event is celebrated Mauritanian filmmaker Abderrahamane Sissako whose feature film, Heremakono, won an award at the Cannes film festival this year. Other films selected for the evening Première screenings include Identity Pieces (a film by Mweze Ngangura which won a FESPACO Gold Award in 1999), Ali Zaoua (a film by Nabil Ayouch which won a FESPACO Gold Award in 2001), The Genesis (a film by Cheick Oumar Sissoko), The Franc & The Little Seller of the Sun (the two last films of Award-winning Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambety), and 100 Days (a mobile monument on the 1994 Rwandan genocide by Nick Hughes of the UK).
