Un equipo de paleontólogos, dirigido por el profesor Michel Brunet, desentierra en 1995 una mandíbula de un australopiteco, al oeste del valle del Rift en el desierto del Chad. Estos siete dientes de marfil fueron un descubrimiento revolucionario para la teoría de la evolución humana formulada por Yves Coppens por la que el origen del hombre se centraría en el este africano.



In 1995, a team of palaeontologists led by Professor Michel Brunet discovered the lower jaw of an Australopithecus in the west of the Rift Valley in the Chad desert. The discovery of the seven ivory teeth had revolutionary implications for the theory of human evolution formulated by Yves Coppens, according to which Man emerged in east Africa.
