MBINI. Cazadores de imágenes en la Guinea Colonial

MBINI. Cazadores de imágenes en la Guinea Colonial is a project that, through a book, a DVD and an audiovisual exhibition, recovers the cinematographic expedition to the Spanish Guinea that the Spanish production company Hermic Films went on, from 1944 to 1946. This expedition, led by Manuel Hernández Sanjuán, meant the most important and significant effort in Spain to document through audiovisual, the Spanish colonial universe in the Black Africa. MBINI shows the 5.500 photographs and several films from that expedition, with a contemporary approach. From its present analysis, these invented and inventor images suggest reflections such as how colonialism created a collective idea about Africa that it was often only the answer to the western civilization dreams and nightmares.

MBINI. Cazadores de imágenes en la Guinea Colonial is a book co-published by We Are Here! Films and Altair that, as a result of ten years of work, shows an extensive selection of 200 images from the Hermic Films Spanish production company expedition to the Spanish Guinea, from 1944 to 1946. The book also includes journalistic texts that contextualise the audiovisual expedition's images, and a long interview with its director, the filmmaker Manuel Hernández Sanjuán. This publication includes three original films from the expedition as well as two documentaries films directed by Pere Ortín and Vic Pereiró, and produced by We Are Here! Films that analyze, from a contemporary audiovisual approach, the audiovisual experience of this African expedition.

_____________

MBINI.
