For 13 years, the scriptwriter and dramaturge Klaus Freund was a jazz musician until an unfortunate accident during a concert suddenly changed the course of his career. Thus, in 2004 he entered the Hamburg Media School for screenwriting studies and between 2004 and 2006 he wrote the scripts for the short films "Der Feigling" (The Coward) and "Heul Doch" (Hush Hush). He completed his screenwriting studies with the script "Elvis and Me", which earned him an Audience Award nomination for the the Studio Hamburg Newcomer's Prize in 2007.
