Angélique Kidjo, the Beninese artist "4 stars" like the number of her Grammy Awards, has been making the planet dance and sing for more than thirty years. Ranked among the 100 most influential women in the world, the singer is an internationally recognized activist living between Brooklyn and Paris. Independent and feminist, she claims the legacy of South African Miriam Makeba and Cuban salsa queen Celia Cruz who paved the way for her and showed her how to make her place in a man's world. In her sixties energetic, Angélique Kidjo takes on this role of tutelary figure for the new generation of African artists like Yemi Alade and Burna Boy. From African Independences which saw her born in 1960 to her exile in France in 1983 to the international success of her music, from the roads of slavery to Barak Obama's playlist, traditional Yoruba rhythms from her childhood to the advent of what we called World Music in the 90s, through its covers of the Talking Heads album Remain in Lights and Ravel's Bolero, its prestigious duets with Alicia Keys, Ziggy Marley, Bono, Peter Gabriel, his original creations with Philip Glass and Ibrahim Maalouf… "Queen Kidjo, absolute rhythm" tells the artist's journey through life and her artistic choices that have led her to become this powerful and committed voice that breaks the walls of indifference and builds musical bridges over which no one has yet stepped.
