Moufida Tlatli is a Tunisian director born in 1947 in Sidi Bou Saï-d (Tunisia). She is from a family strongly attached to tradition; her discovery of film is due to her teacher of philosophy. After completing editing studies at IDHEC (1968), she comes back to Tunisia and edited a lot of films among which "Omar Gatlo" by Merzak Allouache, "Les baliseurs du désert" by Nacer Khémir, "Le Cantique des pierres" by Michel Kheleifi and "Halfaouine, l'enfant des terrasses" by Ferid Boughedir. In 1994, she directed her first feature film co-written with Nouri Bouzid, "Les silences du palais", which won the prize Tanit d'or at the film days of Carthage, the Tulipe d'or prize at the international festival of Istanbul. She was also distinguished by the jury of golden camera at Cannes festival. "La saison des hommes" won the Great Prize of the Arabic world. In 2001, she was jury member of the Cannes festival. In 2009, she was jury member of the Fespaco.
